Daniel H. Pink is the author of four provocative books about the changing world of work -- including the New York Times bestsellers, A WHOLE NEW MIND and this insightful book, which together have been translated into 27 languages. Described by the Financial Times as "rapidly acquiring international guru status," Pink lectures on business, innovation, and economic transformation to corporations and universities around the world. He held is last "real job" in the White House, where he served from 1995 to 1997 as chief speechwriter to Vice President Al Gore.
I really enjoyed this book. The take away for me is that a meaningful life consists of three vital ingredients, Autonomy, Mastery and Purpose. We all have this deep need within us to direct our own lives, to get better at something that matters to us and to do something in service to something larger than ourselves. This is a paradigm-shattering book and has helped me to see how real motivation comes from the inside-out and not from the outside-in. Highly recommended reading.
